Web 2.0 Application

Flipboard.com is a website that allows a teacher to create magazines of news articles that the teacher selects. The site also makes recommendations based on interest.

Flipboard is a great tool to engage students with current events. It allows teachers to create magazines based only on the articles and topics the teacher chooses. Students should remain actively engaged by using technology to read the digital magazine created by the teacher. Watch my instructional video below for more information.

Overview of the product: I would use this to engage students with non-fiction, current event texts. I would have the students complete dialectical journal entries as they read the assigned magazine articles. I would also let students create their own magazines and share them with the class.  This tool would be a very valuable way to incorporate non-fiction into the classroom in a fun and engaging way.
