www.twitter.com

Twitter is an American online news and social networking service on which users post and interact with messages known as "tweets". Tweets were originally restricted to 140 characters, but on November 7, 2017, this limit was doubled. I personally use Twitter as a news source and a professional source as I follow many individual teachers and teaching organizations.

Twitter Professional Development:

The Twitter professional development assignment met standard one as it was our job as students to find and evaluate tweets to outside sources that were useful to our content area. It is also a place to see what is trending by searching hashtags or specific words. The pros of Twitter are the information is easy to find and access, the main con is the information is often short or is simply a link to an outside source.

The assignment met standard two as we had to find tweets to organizations and lessons that we could use within our classrooms to facilitate learning and teaching. I was able to find many links to websites and content that I have found useful. I personally found tons of useful information from @collegeboard, @ APforstudents, and @cite_english. These websites have provided professional development opportunities and useful resources on a regular basis.

The assignment met standard three as we as a class had to tweet each other, like tweets, and retweet. This was useful as we were able to see many different perspectives and find many different resources through our tweets. I can also keep up with webinars, and participate in web-chats that are relevant to education.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PAPER

For the ED 505 class, I wrote a professional development paper of my experience with using Twitter during the class.
